# How AI tidies your captures

After you capture, AI reads the raw sentence, splits it into as many tasks as it holds, and fills in details you didn't type.

## What happens after you press Enter

Your task is saved **instantly** by Kairo's own parser, the AI never makes you wait. A moment later, the original sentence is sent for a second read, and anything useful it finds is added quietly. You'll see a small toast like `✨ Tomorrow · ~45m · #Work` when it adjusts something.

It can set: a cleaner title, a planned day, a real deadline, a time estimate, a list, Spotlight, and a list of steps.

One breath can hold several tasks. Say "call the bank tomorrow at 11 and gym today at 7" and AI files **two** tasks, each with its own day and time, and shows you every one it created. Things that belong to the same errand stay together: "go shopping and buy fruits" stays one task.

## The rules it plays by

- **It never overrules you.** If you typed a date or edited a field after capturing, AI leaves that field alone.
- **It never clears anything.** AI can only add detail, never remove it.
- **It respects Spotlight's limit.** If three tasks are already starred, it won't add a fourth.
- **It only adds steps to an empty checklist**, and at most 20.
- **Locked list names are never sent.** A locked list can't be chosen by AI.

## When AI is unavailable

If the service is slow or offline, Kairo gives up after about twelve seconds and simply keeps what its own parser understood. Nothing breaks, nothing is lost, and no error interrupts you, you just don't get the extra polish on that one capture.

> **Note:** AI never sets a repeat rule. Repeats come only from what you type or pick yourself.
