# Plan today

Today shows only what you chose for today, with up to three Spotlight must-wins and an honest capacity line.

## What appears on Today

- Tasks you planned for today, nothing else.
- **Spotlight** at the top: up to three must-wins.
- **Steps today**, if you scheduled individual [steps](https://kairo.jaimansoni.com/support/steps) of bigger tasks.
- **Done today**, so the day's wins stay visible.

Your backlog isn't here on purpose. It lives in [Lists](https://kairo.jaimansoni.com/support/lists) until you deliberately pull something in.

## Fill the day

1. Type into the add row at the bottom of the list, it plans straight to today.
2. Or use the **Plan today from your inbox** panel that appears when today is empty, and tap **+ Today** on anything you want.
3. Or drag tasks onto today in the [Calendar](https://kairo.jaimansoni.com/support/calendar).

## Spotlight: three, no more

Tap the star on a task to make it a Spotlight must-win. Kairo holds a maximum of three at a time and will refuse a fourth with the message “Spotlight holds 3, that's the point ✦”.

> **Heads up:** The limit of three counts **every** unfinished starred task, not just today's. If a task starred for next week is using a slot, unstar it to free one up.

Completing a task clears its star automatically, as does sending it back to the inbox or to Someday.

## The capacity line

If your today tasks have [estimates](https://kairo.jaimansoni.com/support/focus-timer), the header adds them up: `holds ~2h 45m · fits ✓`. Once the total passes six hours it changes tone, `holds ~7h, that's a lot. Trim one?`

> **Note:** It's a nudge, never a block. Kairo will happily let you overload a day; it just won't pretend that's realistic.

## “Day won”

When nothing is left on today, no steps are due, and you finished at least one thing, Today turns into a small celebration panel: **Day won.** It's the only scoreboard Kairo keeps.
